Chamber Broadband, Data Protection Tours Roll On
The VoteForBusiness Bandwagons aren’t the only tours the U.S. Chamber is taking part in this summer. The Chamber is also participating in separate roadshows to promote broadband and consumer data protection.
The Connect! tour, a joint effort by the Chamber and national nonprofit Connected Nation to illustrate the economic and community benefits of more widely available broadband, stopped in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 20 for an event with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber-sponsored event featured speeches by Kentucky Education Cabinet Secretary Helen Mountjoy and Kentucky Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Dave Adkisson. A keynote panel included representatives from the Kentucky Office of Technology, Greater Louisville, Inc., ConnectKentucky, Humana, and other regional businesses and organizations.
Separately, the Chamber has teamed up with Visa Inc. and local chambers of commerce to educate business owners on how to better protect consumer information and reduce fraud. “Drop the Data,” a national campaign, has held events in seven states with five more dates scheduled. The next stop will be August 26 in Atlanta. The tour will wrap up September 16 in Columbus, Ohio. This marks the third year that the Chamber and Visa have partnered on a national data security tour.
