Family Day 2006

The U.S. Chamber is proud to be a sponsor of Family Day celebrated this year on September 25th.  Family Day is a national initiative that promotes regular family activities in parent-child communications and regular family dinners as simple and effective ways to reduce children and teens' risk of smoking, drinking and using illegal drugs.

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University launched Family Day in 2001 after 10 years of research consistently found that the more often children and teens eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to abuse substances.

People committed to eating with their loved ones on Family Day can join CASA and TV Land and Nick at Nite's Family Table: Share More than Meals pledge drive by logging onto http://www.casafamilyday.org/.

In 2005, more than 1.3 million Americans pledged to eat dinner with their loved ones on Family Day. The President, 47 governors and more than 500 mayors and county executives proclaimed Family Day.  For more information about Family Day, visit http://www.casafamilyday.org/.
