Customs, Transportation, and Border Security Issues
Background One of the biggest challenges facing DHS policy makers is striking the right balance between enhanced border and port security with the smooth flow of legitimate trade and travel expected in our just-in-time global economy. As a result, this issue is at the top of the Chamber's list of homeland security priorities.
U.S. Chamber Activities The Chamber works to ensure that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Congress effectively strike the right balance between homeland security and the openness and mobility that are critical to our economy. The Chamber monitors and comments on rules, regulations, and strategic plans affecting commerce generated by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). By influencing policy decisions and legislation that govern the movement of goods across borders, the Chamber works to ensure that legitimate goods can travel into and outside of the United States expediently.
