Good public policy doesn’t just happen, it requires leaders committed to making it happen. In Congress, often the easiest part of the process is the vote on legislation. The work that occurs beforehand in refining proposals and building support is essential.
The Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award recognizes Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle based on their cosponsorship of legislation important to the business community during this pivotal moment for our country.
Methodology: Since the start of the 116th Congress, the Chamber has urged members to cosponsor certain bills and refrain from cosponsoring others. This award is based on the number of times a member took the recommended actions. Members are ranked relative to the performance of all other members of their party, with the top ranked in both parties earning 100%. This prestigious recognition is presented to the top Senators and Representatives from both parties.
