Chamber Lauds Health Care Ruling

Washington, DC--Robin Conrad, executive vice president of the National Chamber Litigation Center (NCLC), remarked on today's decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in AARP v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission allowing employers to offer different health care benefits to retirees eligible for Medicare benefits:

"Employers want to do the right thing and giving them the freedom to craft new health care options so retirees are not left out in the cold is a tremendous victory. Had the court ruled the other way, many employers may have been forced to reduce or even eliminate health care benefits for their retirees."

NCLC, the public policy law firm of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is a membership organization that advocates fair treatment of business in the courts and before regulatory agencies. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
