WASHINGTON, D.C. - In the annual State of American Business speech today, U.S. Chamber of Commerce CEO Thomas J. Donohue outlined the path for a widespread economic recovery through a bold agenda of infrastructure investments, workforce reskilling, immigration reforms, and reinvigorating America’s global competitiveness. Additionally, he warned that excessive regulations and anti-competitive taxes would undermine the recovery.
In the face of significant challenges, including a global pandemic and an economic crisis, businesses have adapted to survive ... they have served their communities, and this country ... and they have put forward life-saving, world-changing solutions.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business organization representing companies of all sizes across every sector of the economy, established the Task Force to Eradicate Human Trafficking, an advisory group made up of members who work with the federal government and the private sector to develop commonsense solutions and speak with one voice. Despite the encouraging rebound, not all industries are faring equally well. Some have fully recovered. Among that group there are some that are doing better than they were pre-pandemic. Others have not recovered and continue to struggle. Those tend to be industries whose businesses cannot operate fully, or at all, while the virus persists.
