Rahul Sharma, a prominent policy and public affairs expert, is managing director of U.S.-India-Business Council (USIBC). He has nearly four decades of experience in multiple sectors across India, Singapore, Hong Kong and the UAE. 

Prior to joining USIBC, Mr. Sharma was Managing Director, India, of APCO, a US-based global advisory and advocacy firm. He has held a variety of leadership roles across the communications, business and policy sectors as deputy secretary general of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), president of Rediffusion Communications and president of Burson’s public affairs practice in India. 

Mr. Sharma is a co-founder and past president of the Public Affairs Forum of India and closely associated with the India-Africa Entrepreneurship Forum, which focuses on bringing together start-ups in India and Africa. 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Sharma was a journalist and editor with a variety of news outlets, including The Economic Times, Thomson Reuters, the Hindustan Times and the Khaleej Times. 

He holds a master's degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and a master's degree in international trade and economy from Flinders University in Adelaide. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, where he studied journalism. 

Mr. Sharma has written extensively on global affairs and economic issues and co-edited a book A New Cold War: Henry Kissinger and the Rise of China. He is a keen traveler and enjoys photography in his free time.
