U.S. Chamber urges Fourth Circuit to reverse decision permitting Alien Tort Statute claims against domestic corporation to proceed
August 05, 2019
The U.S. Chamber filed an amicus brief urging the Fourth Circuit to reverse a District Court decision permitting Alien Tort Statute (ATS) claims against a domestic corporation to proceed, arguing that the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Jesner forecloses ATS liability against domestic and foreign corporations alike.
John B. Bellinger, III, John P. Elwood, Kaitlin Konnkel, and Robert Reeves Anderson of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP served as co-counsel for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center.
