U.S. Chamber urges California Supreme Court to rehear class action case
June 10, 2009
NCLC urged the California Supreme Court to rehear this case to decide whether California law allows class actions composed of non-injured individuals who would lack standing to pursue individual claims, so long as a single injured person may be recruited to serve as a class representative. NCLC argued that permitting class actions to proceed where only one class member has standing would eviscerate California’s class actions reforms and subject businesses to potentially ruinous liability.
