U.S. Chamber protests government’s use of surreptitious searches under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act

In the Western District of Washington, the U.S. Chamber, Center for Democracy and Technology, and National Association of Manufacturers filed an amicus brief supporting a First Amendment challenge to a Department of Justice (“DOJ”) “gag order” prohibiting service providers from informing their customers when they receive a warrant seeking their emails or other data.
Ryan P. McBride of Lane Powell PC and Andrew J. Pincus and Travis Crum of Mayer Brown LLP served as counsel for the amici.
