U.S. Chamber urges California Supreme Court to review abusive discovery orders in asbestos litigation case
April 11, 2007
Urging the California Supreme Court to grant review to consider the validity of San Francisco Superior Court General Order No. 129, NCLC contended in its supporting amicus letter that the order unfairly places the burden on asbestos defendants to disclose completely irrelevant information stretching back decades. In particular, NCLC contended in its amicus letter that, in addition to violating the defendant’s statutory and constitutional rights, the order could cost this particular defendant $1 million to comply but would not result in information relevant to the particular plaintiff’s case.
