The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court rejected the plaintiff’s attempt to carve out exceptions to the component parts doctrine, under which the manufacturer of a nondefective component placed in an integrated product generally is not liable for damage caused by a defect in the integrated product. The U.S. Chamber filed two amicus briefs supporting this outcome.
