U.S. Chamber files amicus brief arguing the Seventh Circuit should correct errors in the district court’s evaluation of whether a punitive damages award is excessive

The Chamber filed an amicus brief arguing that when courts evaluate whether punitive awards are excessive they must compare the punitive awards to the damages for claims that authorize punitive damages, not all claims, and urging the Seventh Circuit to correct other errors regarding the lower court’s application punitive damage guideposts.
