According to a survey conducted by the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $25.8 billion on Valentine's Day this year on things such as candy, flowers, greeting cards, dining out, and other purchases. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce used this figure to determine spending by residents in 386 metropolitan statistical areas according to their populations.
All this extra business activity adds up to increased spending at local businesses, healthy local economies, and a memorable holiday for consumers.
