Every spring season, thousands of visitors flock to Washington, D.C., to catch a glimpse of the world-famous Japanese Cherry Blossom trees that line the city’s streets and monuments. It’s one of the busiest times of the year for the nation’s capital, and it cannot happen without local businesses.

Hotels, restaurants, tour companies, and retailers across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) begin prepping for the influx of visitors long before the first pink and white blooms make their appearance. Businesses go all out to bring the spirit of peak bloom to life through cherry-flavored drink specials, bespoke cherry blossom tours, specialty menu items, and one-of-a-kind cultural events.

From the first signs of flowers to the final blooms, these businesses ensure each guest experiences some cherry blossom magic. Here are a few of the businesses working to create a memorable experience for visitors this spring.

Floral-Themed Menus Delight

Blue Duck Tavern in D.C.’s West End neighborhood offers a unique experience for their customers for the cherry blossom season with a cherry-blossom themed tea experience, along with special cocktails, appetizers, entrées, and desserts.

Through April 13, Blue Duck Tavern will allow guests to sample unique teas from all over the world. A special tea experience will feature a wide range of teas from their cellar, complemented by seasonally crafted pastries.

Other restaurants with special menus for cherry blossoms include Santé in Pentagon City, Virginia; Modena DC, and Pendry at The Wharf along the waterfront.

Blossoms by Boat

Boat Tours are a great way to avoid the crowds and view the cherry blossom trees from a different perspective. Potomac Paddle Club offers several experiences across different locations, including private boat tours, guided kayak tours, cruises, and private charters.

Each cruise comes with several features, including a guide to help visitors enjoy the stunning cherry blossom scenery. Tours are typically around two hours and provide the ultimate cherry blossom experience. The views on this boat tour are spectacular and are a fantastic way to enjoy the springtime in DC.

View the Blooms Over Afternoon Tea

While many hotels in the area off springtime deals and packages for visitors, the Fairmount Hotel in the West End neighborhood has incredible views of the cherry blossom trees—and visitors can even enjoy the views over an afternoon tea service through April 13.

In addition, The Fairmount is offering cherry blossom themed cocktails and a pink themed menu with sweet treats including sandwiches, croissants, scones, and more.

Other hotels offering similar experiences include Salamander DC just south of the National Mall, Hay-Adams Hotel in downtown DC, and The St. Regis.

If you are in town to see the Cherry Blossom Trees—or just enjoy the spring weather—check out these unique experiences throughout DC that are bringing the season to life inside and out.
