WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the introduction of the Building American Energy Security Act of 2023 by Chairman Joe Manchin, Marty Durbin, President of the U.S. Chamber’s Global Energy Institute, made the following statement:
“We appreciate Chairman Manchin’s commitment to fixing our broken permitting process, as evidenced by his participation in the launch of the Chamber’s “Permit America to Build” campaign a few weeks ago. The introduction of his bill is the latest sign of momentum for permitting reform. Over the last several weeks, we’ve also seen House passage of its permitting reform bill as part of the debt ceiling legislation, and a Senate EPW Committee hearing on the topic, with additional legislative proposals expected soon. These actions collectively recognize that meaningful permitting reform can and should get done this year and give us a solid foundation for bipartisan negotiations. We look forward to working with Congressional leaders from both parties to make it happen.”
