Marty Durbin, president of the U.S. Chamber's Global Energy Institute, issued the following statement in response to the introduction of the "Fission for the Future Act."
"The Chamber applauds Chairman Manchin and Ranking Member Barrasso for introducing the 'Fission for the Future Act,' which would facilitate commercial deployment of advanced nuclear reactors and development of the associated workforce that is essential to America’s clean energy future. This bipartisan legislation would support economic opportunities for the workers and communities that provide the foundation for our modern electricity grid, while accelerating the pursuit of next-generation nuclear technologies that are essential to meeting climate goals. The bill helps to address the unique challenges local economies face as part of the energy transition, and serves as yet another model of the collaborative, solutions-oriented approach that should serve as the foundation for durable and effective climate policy."
