To the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports H.R. 886, the “Save Our Seas 2.0 Amendments Act,” which would enable the United States and American businesses to address global marine debris and plastic waste challenges.
The Save Our Seas 2.0 Amendments Act would:
· Enable the Department of Commerce to identify shared federal resources to implement and increase the scale of viable projects.
· Address needed technical improvements to accelerate the establishment of a Marine Debris Foundation, which will catalyze more public-private partnerships.
· Compile best practices for the Foundation to engage tribes to ensure development of projects to address plastic waste in key coastal Native American and related-disadvantaged communities.
We urge you to vote in favor of this bill when it comes to the House floor.
Sincerely,
Neil L. Bradley
