WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and China's Hainan Province signed a memorandum of understanding that will serve as a foundation for cooperation in the fields of health. The agreement establishes a strategic partnership that will drive Hainan Province’s medical and health industries to achieve breakthroughs in the development and promotion of market-based healthcare solutions. It will also introduce U.S. health companies, pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies, and research institutions to commercial opportunities in Hainan Province.
“This agreement is a welcomed milestone for the U.S. Chamber’s engagement on health issues in China," said Myron Brilliant, executive vice president and head of international affairs for the U.S. Chamber. "Under the leadership of Governor Shen, Hainan Province has the potential to create not just a best-in-class health city for China, but a center of medical excellence that will serve the needs of patients across Asia. The innovation and technology of our members has been welcomed in this important endeavor, and we are committed to seeing this partnership succeed.”
The MOU was signed during the inaugural U.S.-Sino Health Forum on the margins of the Bo’Ao Forum for Asia. Executive board members of the Chamber’s Global Initiative on Health and the Economy participated in the event.
