To the Members of the United States Senate:
As the U.S. Senate considers the nomination of Aaron Szabo to be the Assistant Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Air and Radiation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce offers the following observations. As demonstrated during his confirmation hearing, Mr. Szabo’s extensive experience with environmental policy makes him exceptionally qualified for this critical role. We urge quick consideration of Mr. Szabo’s nomination and look forward to working with him upon his confirmation.
Throughout his career, Mr. Szabo has demonstrated an ability to navigate complex regulatory matters and foster collaboration. He has served in three different federal regulatory agencies for multiple administrations, where he consistently advanced policies that balance economic growth with environmental stewardship. Mr. Szabo understands the intricacies involved in federal environmental regulation.
The previous administration, by its own estimate, imposed more than $1.2 trillion in regulatory costs on the public. Mr. Szabo's comprehensive understanding of air policy issues will be instrumental in guiding EPA's air office as it attempts to minimize the costs of regulatory policy while achieving environmental objectives.
We look forward to working with the Senate and Mr. Szabo to advance our nation’s clean air agenda and promote economic growth.
Sincerely,
Neil L. Bradley
