Dear Chairman Carper and Ranking Member Capito:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the nomination of Jane Nishida to be Assistant Administrator for International and Tribal Affairs at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Ms. Nishida would bring valuable experience in confronting the challenges and opportunities presented by the growing environmental interests of U.S. industry in global markets. Through her position as Acting Assistant Administrator and the Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator at EPA, Ms. Nishida has demonstrated a deep understanding of the interplay of international and domestic environmental issues. She has exhibited a strong commitment to equitable and science-based environmental outcomes and has a proven interest in promoting the deployment of U.S. technologies, products, and services to address global environmental challenges.
Ms. Nishida would bring leadership and substantial international credibility to all U.S. efforts to drive the climate transition, material management and recycling, water quality and conservation. In addition, she would lead efforts to build smart, modern, and resilient infrastructure in ways consistent with market-based growth.
The Chamber believes Ms. Nishida is the right person at the right time to serve in this important leadership position at EPA. Thank you for scheduling the June 16 hearing. We look forward to working with the committee regarding our shared priorities and to Ms. Nishida’s expeditious confirmation.
Sincerely,
Neil L. Bradley
