WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Chamber President and CEO Suzanne Clark today issued the following statement after the passing of Colin Powell, former secretary of state and retired four-star general.
"All of us at the U.S. Chamber are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Colin Powell. Throughout his storied career as a national security advisor, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, secretary of state, decorated four-star general, and devoted diplomat and philanthropist, his life was defined by patriotic service to our nation.
"We were honored to work with former Secretary of State Powell on education initiatives, host him at our small business summit, and partner with him on other leading business issues. He was a champion for free enterprise who believed in—and lived—the American dream. Our thoughts go out to his family and the millions of Americans mourning the loss of a dedicated patriot."
