Brilliant: “Setting Aside the Imposition of Tariffs is the Right Course of Action”
WASHINGTON, D.C. —U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs Myron Brilliant today released the following statement on the outcomes of President Donald Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping:
“We welcome the announcement that President Trump and President Xi are de-escalating tensions and returning to the negotiating table. Setting aside the imposition of tariffs is the right course of action for U.S. workers, job creators, and the economy. Negotiators on both sides now have a reasonable 90-day window to achieve meaningful outcomes in key areas of concern affecting U.S. businesses, such as IP theft, forced technology transfer, and market access. The Chamber looks forward to working with both governments to support their efforts. The hard work begins now.”
