TO THE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the FY 2018 Budget
Resolution and associated reconciliation instructions. The Chamber applauds the
Committee on the Budget for crafting this resolution as the next, essential step toward
consideration of pro-growth tax reform legislation. We urge the Senate to ensure the
Committee framework remains unaltered during consideration.
The Chamber will
include votes on this legislation in our annual How They Voted scorecard, including
the Motion to Proceed.
Make no mistake, the opportunity before the Senate is momentous. Along with
similar House action, Senate passage of this FY18 budget would initiate the once-in-ageneration
opportunity to simplify the arcane tax code and thereby help families who are
struggling to make ends meet, help employers create jobs, increase American
competitiveness, and foster strong, sustained economic growth.
Congress must pass the FY 2018 Budget Resolution quickly so both the House
and Senate can take the next step toward consideration of pro-growth tax reform that will
accomplish those goals.
