The U.S. Chamber of Commerce supports the nomination of Circuit Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to be Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. The Chamber will include votes on this nomination in our annual How They Voted scorecard.
The American business community and America’s free-enterprise system depend on the stable rule of law guaranteed by the Constitution. Judge Kavanaugh’s steadfast commitment to the rule of law makes him an excellent nominee for the Supreme Court.
No one, the Chamber included, agrees with every decision rendered by any judge. But over the course of his distinguished career, Judge Kavanaugh has demonstrated that he is eminently qualified to serve on the Supreme Court.
Judge Kavanaugh has a strong record of keeping federal regulatory agencies within their statutory limits. His opinions reflect a jurist who has thought carefully about federal statutes and America’s broader regulatory structure.
Judge Kavanaugh has repeatedly demonstrated that he treats all who come before him seeking justice with the utmost dignity and respect that every party in our legal system deserves. In our experience, he takes seriously the interests and legal arguments on all sides of a case.
We urge the Senate to confirm Judge Kavanaugh swiftly.
