The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the nomination of Governor Gina Raimondo to be Secretary of Commerce.
Governor Raimondo has a strong track record of success on which to draw as she deals with issues within the Department of Commerce’s diverse portfolio. Among other accomplishments, Raimondo spearheaded major pension and regulatory reform initiatives. She implemented a major workforce talent pipeline management initiative applauded by the state’s business community. And she established a partnership among the National Guard, state police, telecommunications providers, and local government to help towns and cities to improve their cybersecurity and to mitigate potential damage from intrusions.
The Chamber looks forward to working with Governor Raimondo as Commerce Secretary. We support her nomination and appreciate the Committee scheduling today’s hearing.
