“Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family of George Floyd. There has been much attention paid to the trial and today marks a step towards healing. As a nation, we need to remain steadfast in our pursuit of equality of opportunity for Black Americans and other people of color.
“American competitiveness depends on building a more inclusive nation, strengthening communities and ensuring that all individuals have a fair chance to earn their success, rise on their merit, and live their own American Dream. Ensuring equality is not just a moral imperative, it’s a matter of economic growth and opportunity for all.”
The U.S. Chamber will continue to bring together the business community to advance sustainable solutions that address America’s disparities and close the economic divide. The U.S. Chamber launched the Equality of Opportunity Initiative to advance public and private sector solutions to our country’s race-based opportunity gaps in education, unemployment, criminal justice, entrepreneurship, health and wealth.
