As the House begins consideration of numerous regulatory reform measures, the below quote can be attributed to William Kovacs, U.S. Chamber senior vice president of Environment, Technology and Regulatory Affairs:

“The U.S. Chamber is pleased that Congress is kicking off its session with a focus on reforming our country’s regulatory process, a process that hasn’t been working for the business community or American consumers. The work that will be done in the House over the next several weeks is a step in the right direction toward bringing greater accountability, transparency, and integrity to federal rulemakings. We look forward to working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, and in both chambers of Congress, to get smart regulatory reform provisions signed into law by the president.”

On Dec. 5, the U.S. Chamber led a coalition of 380 business associations and local chambers to urge Speaker Paul Ryan and House leaders to move quickly on the Regulatory Accountability Act (RAA) in the 115th Congress. We are pleased to see that request being fulfilled. The Chamber has been a champion of regulatory reform for years. You can find a series of research reports examining the federal regulatory process here.
