Chamber President States ‘We Can Work Together to Fully Realize a Broad-Based Economic Recovery That Creates Jobs and Restores Economic Opportunity for All’WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today joined President Biden in his call for 100 days of mask wearing, and commended the new administration’s commitment to defeating the virus and restoring our economy.
From the start of the pandemic in March, we chronicled what was happening in the economy. Here is what we found and what we expect in 2021.
Both the public health and the closely-related economic recovery elements in U.S. pandemic response must be the principal focus of the new administration and Congress in the first months of 2021.
This Hill Letter was sent to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, on the nomination of Alejandro Mayorkas to be Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
“The U.S. Chamber of Commerce welcomes the introduction of President-elect Biden’s American Rescue Plan. Specifically, we applaud the President-elect’s focus on vaccinations and on economic sectors and families that continue to suffer as the pandemic rages on. We must defeat COVID before we can restore our economy and that requires turbocharging our vaccination efforts. We look forward to working with the new administration and Congress on the details and in ensuring that any additional economic assistance is timely, targeted, and temporary.”
