Dear DAEC Members,
I am honored to inform you that the Honorable Heidi Shyu has been confirmed as the Depart of Defense’s Under Secretary for Research and Engineering. I have worked for the Honorable Shyu and have known her for over a decade, and I could not think of a more qualified individual to lead the critical R&E mission of the Department at this vital time in our history. We at the Chamber of Commerce wish Heidi great success and stand ready to support her work in the future. With this confirmation, the Honorable Shyu must step down from the Defense and Aerospace Export Council Advisory Board. In this capacity, Heidi has been an invaluable advisor in our work and her departure from our Board is a bittersweet moment. Again, we wish her great success and are forever grateful for Heidi’s contributions and national service.
