TO THE MEMBERS OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports H. Con. Res. 71, the budget
resolution for fiscal year 2018 and associated reconciliation instructions. The Chamber
will include votes on, or in relation to, this legislation in our annual How They Voted
scorecard.
This budget resolution takes on substantial importance because it is necessary to
clear the path for pro-growth, comprehensive tax reform.
Make no mistake, the consequences are great. Failing to pass an FY18 budget
would extinguish this once-in-a-generation opportunity to simplify the arcane tax code
and thereby help families who are struggling to make ends meet, help employers create
jobs, increase American competitiveness, and foster strong, sustained economic growth.
Congress must pass H. Con. Res. 71 with reconciliation instructions that will
unlock pro-growth tax reform, and the Chamber urges you to support H. Con. Res. 71.
