WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today launched a significant, six-figure paid advertising campaign in opposition to the multi-trillion reconciliation bill that poses a significant threat to the American economy.
“Every CEO and business leader is concerned about how the reconciliation bill will torpedo America’s fragile economic recovery and future prosperity with higher taxes and burdensome regulations,” said U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne P. Clark. “This legislation would significantly harm the ability of American businesses to continue to compete internationally by introducing new tax hikes on those who sell overseas. This legislation would disadvantage American businesses who compete in the global economy.”
This second wave of paid advertising will air in districts represented by Deborah Ross (D-NC-02), Kathy Manning (D-NC-06), Tom Malinowski (D-NJ-07), Angie Craig (D-MN-02), and Antonio Delgado (D-NY-19). The ads appeal to voters who understand the perils of raising taxes as the nation seeks to recover from the pandemic and calls on them to contact their members of Congress to voice their opposition. The ads, which can be viewed here, target key Congressional districts and future rounds may include more districts.
The first round of ads targeted districts represented by Cindy Axne, (D-IA-03), Angie Craig (D-MN-02), Antonio Delgado (D-NY-19), Josh Harder (D-CA-10) and Elaine Luria (D-VA-02). They can be viewed here.
In September, the Chamber sent a key vote letter in opposition to the $3.5 trillion tax and spending spree, stating “no member of Congress can achieve the support of the business community if they vote to pass this bill as currently constructed.” The Chamber adamantly opposes the partisan reconciliation bill but fully supports stand-alone passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and the Chamber stands against any attempt to link the two bills.
