CHARLOTTE, N.C. —U.S. Chamber CEO Thomas J. Donohue, a member of the administration’s American Workforce Policy Advisory Board, released the following statement after the group’s second meeting on Tuesday.

“We applaud the administration’s continued leadership on the important issue of the future workforce in America, and we appreciate the opportunity to bring the business community’s perspective to the table with industry and policy leaders.

“Looking to the future of our economy and our citizens, the U.S. Chamber remains fully committed to addressing the dual challenges of too many people without jobs and too many jobs without people. Working hand-in-hand with public and private sector leaders, we continue to create, implement, and scale innovative solutions designed to increase employer engagement, improve communications around talent needs, and modernize the technology that powers the talent marketplace.”

Donohue was selected in February to serve on the administration’s American Workforce Policy Advisory Board, which helps guide the National Council for the American Worker in developing and implementing a national workforce strategy to meet the needs of today’s economy. Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump and Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross co-chair the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board.

In addition to the Advisory Board, Donohue served an active role on the Department of Labor’s Task Force for Apprenticeship Expansion, which offered recommendations to bolster learning and employment opportunities for Americans.
